Observation on data availability/gaps

The UNEP/IUCN Protected Planet Report shows significant advancements since 2010, with more than 22 million square kilometers of land and 28 million square kilometers of ocean now protected or preserved. However, despite these gains, one-third of vital biodiversity areas still have no protection, and less than 8% of land is both protected and interconnected.
